About Us
Hi! Welcome to our blog site. We are the Matice’s, Carl and Mary. We got married on Labor Day, September 4th 2006. We have just moved to Endicott, NY after finishing quite the adventure in Dallas, TX. We were there for four years as Carl studied and received his Masters of Theology at Dallas Theological Seminary. That was quite the busy season of our lives! We met so many wonderful people down there that we miss very much. While there, God took us on a journey of seeing firsthand and learning about church planting. We hadn’t even considered the idea of church planting when we moved down there. Through the searches for a church in our area to attend, we experienced three church plants. The first two were unsuccessful, the third one was more than successful. It was healthy, vibrant and served its community in exciting ways. We were there, at Vista Church, for two and a half years. While there we learned much about interacting with our community. We enjoyed serving at events and meeting new people. Carl was so impressed with their evangelism strategy that he completed his internship there.
In the spring before our last year at seminary, Carl took a church planting class. He loved it. His professor, Dr. Malphurs had been influential in his life through other classes and conversations. He had to do a hypothetical church plant presentation for a specific area. Carl chose a small city in NY, as he had always felt a particular burden for the state. Through this class and project, Carl began developing a vision and a calling for church planting, planting multiplying churches, and for leadership development in NY. Over the next year we pursued this and landed here, in Endicott, NY.
We live in a cute apartment on the outskirts of Endicott. Mary calls it her little swiss chalet. Our apartment is on the top of a hill overlooking the area. Our view from our living room is stunning: rolling hills that touch the wide open sky. This summer we have met with some of the most spectacular blue skies and clouds over our hills.
Besides church planting, we are enjoying getting to know our neighbors and our new community. Mary is looking to pursue her Masters in Marriage & Family Counseling and is getting involved with local counseling agencies. Her end goal is to be a Marriage and Family Therapist interacting with the community and the church. We love outdoor activities and are having fun exploring our local hiking trails, farmers markets, and festivals. We also enjoy camping, kayaking, baseball, running, gardening and landscaping, reading, writing, movies, board games with friends, and video games.
Our blog is a smorgasbord of our life, our thoughts, and our ministry endeavours. We love comments and feedback, so feel free!
